Pearl Cays Escape

It is a fascinating one-hour speedboat ride through jungle rivers to get from Bluefields to Pearl Lagoon. Visitors arriving in the town are greeted by the cannons used to defend the community from pirates in the 1800s. After check-in at the hotel, we will have a quick lunch and begin a tour of Pearl Lagoon, stopping at several points of interest including Haulover and the indigenous villages of Raitipura and Awas. You will have an opportunity to interact with the friendly community members who speak both Creole English and their native tongue, Miskito. These communities will welcome you with open arms and will teach you about the Caribbean culture while you relax in a hut sipping coconut water on the beach in Awas.

The following day we will visit Nicaragua’s hidden gems, the Pearl Cays. They are a small collection of postcard-perfect islands that lie about 40 minutes by speedboat from Pearl Lagoon. If you were looking for white sand, turquoise water, green coconuts and not another soul on the beach, this is place to be! These islands are a sanctuary for various aquatic species including coral, fish and lobster and a paradise for diving, snorkeling, sports fishing, sunbathing and exploring the other nearby keys. The Pearl Cays are always an unforgettable trip.
