Last week we had 13 unexpected visitors come to El Bluff. A pod of Orcas (false killer whales, not the cold water kind that chew on seaworld trainers every few years) decided they couldn’t take it anymore and beached themselves.
A group of volunteers worked in coordination with the local Nicaraguan Minstry of Environment to try to push the animals back into the water.
Most made it, some didn’t. One died of wounds sustained when a local guy macheted off about 50 pounds of meat for a weekend BBQ.
Sorry whale, this ain’t your beach.
